I haven't posted here for a long time because I'm writing for a company called Content Quake.

When I posted here last, I posted that I got a blog writing job with DieHard101. Well, the day after I took that job, I got a second offer from Content Quake. For a little over a month I was writing for both companies, but unfortunately DieHard101 didn't last too long.

So many people lack faith in Jackson. Of course there are other QBs I'd rather have on the team (there are fans of maybe 2 teams in the NFL that would have a hard time saying the same thing), but I for one feel like Jackson is going to be solid enough to be a perfect fit in the Vikings offense. In my opinion, he doesn't need to throw for 35 TDs for the Vikings to be dominant. His only tasks this year are to maintain the threat of the pass at any time, to be able to make the defense pay if they stack 8 or 9 in the box, and to not give up the ball.

Favre could be a good fit for the Vikings


I don't know how I feel about this. Of course I know this has a very slim chance at best of happening, but let's assume it's a possibility for a minute.

Part of me would love it. Favre is a guy who can potentially make a good team great. He's getting old (...okay, he IS old), but he's not on the same level as other old guys like Brad Johnson and Vinnie Testeverde. He showed last year he's still capable of leading a team to great things.

Plus, the Vikings are going to have a killer defense this year, and they have the best running duo in the NFL hands down. Favre's only job would be to keep the threat of the pass alive... something his mere presence on the field would automatically do. I think the Vikings could potentially be the most dangerous team in football with Favre.

Favre would be great for T-Jack, as it would give him someone to learn from for a year or two.

He would also probably help A LOT in the Vikings bid for a new stadium.

But the other part of me just doesn't think it would feel right. It's Bret Favre, afterall. We're not supposed to cheer him!

Plus, can you teach an old dog new tricks? I know he learned a new system in the past couple years, but it was still Green Bay, still with a few familiar players, still with the same fans watching him, etc. Can he step into a new city, new team, new coaches, new system, and the only familiar target being our 4th string guy (at best)? He obviously won't be around long enough to really get the feel for our system, will he?

What do you guys think?

Quarterback waived

The Vikings waived Kyle Wright in preparation of trying to get down to an 80 man roster for training camp.

I liked the idea of letting Wright try things out, since Miami has an offense that can potentially translate into a QB who can play in the pros, but it is already pretty certain that Frerotte is going to be 2nd string, and John David Booty in my opinion is a better candidate for a "project QB" than Wright. I'm assuming Bollinger will be out of a job by the time pre-season starts, and I'm okay with that. Bollinger just isn't quick enough to be a reliable QB in the pros.

One guy that I think is still on the depth chart that I'd love to see stay is half-back Albert Young. If we keep 4 RBs on the roster he might have a shot, but I'll still call it a long shot. Being a Hawkeye fan obviously makes me a little biased toward him, but I'd love to see him add some depth to our bench. Obviously with AD and Chester around he's not going to get a lot of carries, but depth is never a bad thing.

I'm getting impatient

This is the roughest time of the year for football fans, I think. There's just NOTHING going on to read about, and it's driving me nuts.

The news articles that do keep popping up in my RSS feeds are about how coaches are pleased with the progress of Jackson (which I'm happy to hear, but I can only read it so many times) and news about McKinnie.

I'll admit, the McKinnie thing worries me a bit. Even though I'm one of those who have confidence that Tarvaris is going to play much better this year, the Vikings are still going to rely heavily on the run. I mean, wouldn't you if you had Chester Taylor as your BACKUP?!?!? Taylor and AD are going to be the heart of the team, no doubt. Because of that, we could really use McKinnie to be next to Hutch for all 16 games, and I'm guessing that isn't too likely. He's a second time offender. I'm not sure how many games he'll have to miss if he's suspended. Anyone know?
